The business end of the horizontal boring machine.  This drills the
holes for the dowels that hold cabinet and door frames together.
Aaron Watkins prepares to drill a frame part.
The lever draws the clamped
board into the bit to drill a hole
for the 3/8" fluted dowel.

Cabinet frames and door frames are joined using 3/8"
fluted dowels that assure proper alignment and
provide superior strength over the years.  This
process requires careful cutting and matching of
parts before drilling on the horizontal borer.   Glue is
then applied and the parts are clamped and set aside
until dried and cured.  After unclamping the
completed pieces are sent through the belt sander to
sand flat.  The next step is to attach cabinet frames to
the cabinets.  Doors and frames are then given their
final sanding before heading to the finish room.
